FCD-170301 Fleet Campaign Directive FLEET CAMPAIGN DIRECTIVE Date: March 06, 2017 FCD-170301 TITLE: HORIZONTAL STABALIZER MOUNT BOLTS REPLACEMENT/ INSPECTION EFFECTIVITY: All Cessna 208 Series Aircraft owned or operated by Martinaire, regardless of model or serial number. PURPOSE: This FCD was created in response to a rear horizontal stabilizer mount bolt that was found to have sheered in half. Since there is no requirements from the manufacture to inspect these bolts, and there is currently no life limit on them, Martinaire has decided, as a precaution, to replace these bolts and their associated hardware.

Also an inspection of the forward attachment bolts/hardware as well as the forward and aft support mounts and the surrounding areas for signs of corrosion. COMPLIANCE: This is a one-time mandatory inspection, to be complied with at Martinaire's discretion. ESTIMATED MAN-HOURS: 1.5 man hours when the empennage is opened up, such as during a scheduled inspection. 2.5 man hours when the empennage needs to be opened up to gain access. Bolts PIN: AN4-12A, 4 ea. Nuts P/N: MS21044N4 8 ea. Washers P/N: NAS1149F0463P On-Condition Replacement Parts 2 ea. Bolts P/N: S3461-61 2 ea. Nuts P/N: MS21044N8 4 ea. Washers P/N: NAS1149F0863P REFERENCES: Maintenance Manual Chapter 55-10-00 and Figure 401 Illustrated Parts Catalog Chapter 55-10-00 Figure 1 ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS:. Refer to Sheet 1 Removal 1) Remove stinger by removing attach screws. 2) Disconnect tail navigation light wire at quick-disconnect. Refer to Chapter 33, Incandescent Navigation Lights - Maintenance Practices Stinger Navigation Light Removal/Installation. 3) Remove four inspection covers (9) on top of horizontal stabilizer near center.

4) Remove access panel from aft lower surface of tailcone. 5) Remove nuts (5) 2 ea. and (8) 4 ea. 6) Remove attach bolts (4) 2 ea. and save bolts, washers, and nuts. 7) Remove bolts (6) 4 ea. and discard. Inspection 1) Inspect the two forward attach bolts (4) S3461-61 for signs of corrosion and evaluate washers and nuts for reinstallation. 2) Inspect the Horizontal Mount Supports and surrounding areas for signs of corrosion. Note** If corrosion is detected, contact Martinaire Maintenance before continuing further.

Installation 1) Apply ACF-50 Anti-corrosion inhibitor or Cor-Ban 27L corrosion inhibiting compound to all of the bolts and inside the bolt mount holes. Note** Avoid applying either compound to the threaded portion of the bolt to prevent affecting the final torque value. 2) Install 2 ea. bolts (4) (previously removed or new) S3461-61, 2 ea. nuts (5) MS21044N8 nuts, and washers (not numbered) 4 ea.

NAS1149F0863P washers. 3) Install bolts (6) using 4 ea. new AN4-12A bolts, nuts (8) 4 ea. with new MS21044N4 nuts, and washers (not numbered) with 8 ea. new NAS1149F0464P washers. 4) Torque nuts (5) to 480 to 690 inch-pounds. 5) Torque nuts (8) to exactly 70 inch-pounds. 6) Install access panel to aft lower surface of tailcone. 7) Install four inspection covers (9) on top of horizontal stabilizer near center. 8) Reconnect tail navigation light wire at quick-disconnect. Refer to Chapter 33, Incandescent Navigation Lights - Maintenance Practices Stinger Navigation Light Removal/Installation. 9) Install stinger with attach screws. 10) Make a logbook entry stating compliance with FCD-170301.
