ACN 2272583What the Reporter Described
Report 1 | Narrative: While being vectored to final in a descent to 2000 feet utilizing heading hold; I activated the altitude hold to capture the assigned 2000-foot level off altitude and the aircraft rapidly pitched up. I responded to pitch-up by de-activating the autopilot; which eliminated both altitude and heading hold. The rapid pitch-up caused me to become spatially disoriented and the aircraft began a left 180 + degree turn followed a couple of descents; climbs; and turns. ATC issued several low altitude alerts and was very helpful during the recovery process.
I was able to regain aircraft control re-engaged both altitude and heading hold and was vector back on course and completed the landing with no other issues.
Report 1 | Synopsis: Aerostar 600 pilot reported experiencing spatial disorientation and loss of aircraft control during final approach. Pilot regained aircraft control and continued to landing.
